Moritzburg Festival: Tickets are now on sale

Under the artistic direction of Jan Vogler, the 27th Moritzburg Festival (August 4-18, 2019) presents 21 events of many different genres with international soloists and outstanding rising talents – from picnics to palace concerts. For the first time in the festival’s history, the Moritzburg Festival Academy will take place in parallel with the chamber music festival in order to foster the collaboration with young musicians. The festival’s organizers are delighted to announce a newly launched cooperation with the renowned Kronberg Academy, welcoming eight talented students for chamber music concerts in Moritzburg.

The 27th Moritzburg Festival will be placed under the High Patronage of Anne-Sophie Mutter, who is also committed to the support of young musicians.

The Kronberg Academy players will perform at the highest level with stars of the classical music scene such as Lawrence Power, Boris Giltburg, Guy Johnston, Mira Wang, Alexander Sitkovetsky and Antti Siirala. The intergenerational work is extremely stimulating and fruitful, according to Jan Vogler:

“On one hand, we have the experience and artistically advanced impulses of the older ones; on the other hand, you can feel the rousing energy and the fresh ideas of the younger generation, from which everyone can benefit.”

The festival programme will also include two new venues: the Käthe Kollwitz’ memorial in Moritzburg and Dresden’s concert hall Kulturpalast, where the Moritzburg Festival Orchester will perform under the baton of Josep Caballé Domenech. Some of the concerts refer to Clara Schumann’s 200th anniversary.
