Honens is pleased to announce that Italian pianist Alessio Bax will join the Second Jury for its 2018 Honens International Piano Competition. He replaces Inon Barnatan, who has had to withdraw.
Combining exceptional lyricism and insight with consummate technique, Alessio Bax is without a doubt “among the most remarkable young pianists now before the public” (Gramophone). He catapulted to prominence with First Prize wins at both the Leeds and Hamamatsu International Piano Competitions and is now a familiar face on four continents, as a recitalist, chamber musician, and concerto soloist who has appeared with more than 100 orchestras, including the London and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras, Dallas and Cincinnati Symphonies, NHK Symphony (Japan), St. Petersburg Philharmonic, and the City of Birmingham Symphony.
A Steinway artist, Bax lives in New York City with pianist Lucille Chung and their daughter, Mila. In addition to his role as a Juror, Bax will lead a public Masterclass on September 2, 2018.
